Civilization diseases – 21st century diseases

Diseases of the 21st century are diseases that affect an increasing number of people every year. The source of these diseases is not their infectiveness, but the rapid development of civilization.

In Poland, we distinguish 21st diseases such as:

Hypertension – a cardiovascular disease / disorder that is either temporary or permanent. Unfortunately, at the moment the statistics show that over 8 million Poles suffer from arterial hypertension. To reduce the disease, it is enough to change your lifestyle to a healthier one. If there are unnecessary kilos, it would be good to lose them. Unhealthy habits such as smoking, drinking alcohol or eating large amounts of junk food should be kept to ZERO or keep common sense

Civilization diseases: The doctor is holding a globe

Ischemic heart disease – a serious disease resulting from a chronic and insufficient amount of oxygen and nutrients in the heart muscle cells. Unfortunately, statistics show that any heart-related diseases lead to death. In Poland, about 105,000 people are new cases of ischemic heart disease.

Mental disorders – a disease that hinders social and mental functioning. The most common mental disorders include: phobias, bulimia, depression, schizophrenia, sexual dysfunctions, anorexia.

Neurosis – it is a constant feeling of anxiety and nervousness, in patients with long-term neurosis and who do not undergo treatment, complete emotional exhaustion along with insomnia can be observed. There are as many as 1.5 million cases per year of people admitted to a psychiatric hospital, unfortunately this is the highest percentage recorded in the whole of Europe – 4 years ago it was about 100,000. People were registered in a psychiatric hospital with the most severe mental illnesses such as depression.

Duodenal and stomach ulcers – peptic ulcers, i.e. defects in the duodenal and stomach mucosa. Pains that may accompany these disorders are: heartburn, nausea, vomiting, pain in the epigastric area. Statistics show that over 3 million Poles suffer from peptic ulcer disease. The factors that cause peptic ulcer disease include: Genetic high growth in the gastric mucosa, the number of cells that produce hydrochloric acid, smoking, infection with the bacterium Helicobacter pylori, abuse of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, e.g. ketonal.

Allergies – the body’s reaction to various substances that are determined by what allergens. For many years of research, at this point allergy is also considered a manifestation of inadequate immunity of the body, however, the characteristic of tissue damage is considered as a result of which a typical immune reaction occurs. The most common and well-known allergic manifestations are: urticaria, seasonal hay fever, asthma, allergic contact dermatitis, allergy to various types of food, allergy to bee and wasp stings. It is said that for several years there has been an alarming increase in the incidence of children, while in adult Poles there are about 3.5 million allergy sufferers. There is a lot of talk about caring for the environment, because pollution is caused by many diseases, such as allergies. The following factors also contribute to the increase in the number of allergy sufferers: household pollutants such as dust, cleaning preparations, solvents, etc., smoking.

Overweight and obesity – too much fat accumulation in the body that exceeds the physiological needs that occur by eating too much food with a high calorie content. To determine BMI, we should divide the body weight by the square of the height. The correct value is 19-25; overweight 25-30; obesity> 30; extreme obesity> 40.

Obesity always increases the risk of developing other diseases such as: type 2 diabetes, cancer, shortens life, results in sleep apnea and in most severe cases leads to disability. Statistics show that overweight is already present in about 16 million people, and 6.5 million of them are Poles. Being overweight is not only our appearance, but above all health, which we only have one thing! You should take care of your body weight throughout your life, as extra pounds never have a positive effect.

The reasons

Over the years, the causes of 21st century diseases have been distinguished, such as:

Direct – that is, such a result of the lack of any physical activity. Sedentary work with a sedentary lifestyle, poor diet (based on fast food, rich in fats, sugars, etc.), consuming too much alcohol, smoking, negative – permanent stress.
Indirect – these are factors stronger than ourselves, i.e. those against which we are simply unable to defend ourselves, i.e. the environment, noise, radiation, etc.

Types:

Digestive tract – incorrect diet, eating a meal too quickly, prolonged stress.
Cardiac – an abnormality of the circulatory system
Mental – stress, loneliness, neurosis, depression, etc.
Obesity – Incorrect diet
Tumors
Diabetes

Prevention – prevention

The issue would seem simple, but the scared years show that it is not so. All civilization diseases are the fault of PEOPLE, ourselves. Bad diet leads to obesity, throwing papers on the ground leads to environmental pollution, i.e. allergies. Choosing a passive lifestyle, we know in advance that it will not have a positive effect on our health.

In order to prevent a civilization disease:

Try to eat healthier without delay! – the diet should be varied, and we should eat a large amount of vegetables and fruit every day. Limit products such as: salt, sweets, fatty foods, white bread, fast food.
Introduce physical activity – physical activity can even be household activities, such as window cleaning, which will certainly burn more calories than lying on the couch. Walks are the best recipe for health, and at the same time do not require a lot of preparation, such as running.
Get regular check-ups – Urine and blood tests are essential, if you are starting to notice any specific symptoms of any disease, see your doctor.

Take care of the environment – take care of the surroundings, because air quality significantly affects our health.
